We are proud to celebrate the 4th edition of the Mightex Research Excellence Award Competition by congratulating this year’s top awardees. More details on the winners and their achievements coming soon!
Bio: Saeed Omidi is a fourth-year Bioengineering Ph.D. student at Lehigh University, specializing in neuroengineering and brain-on-chip systems. His research combines human neuron differentiation, optical neuromodulation, and machine learning to study brain information processing and neural network development. Saeed’s work bridges bioscience and engineering, with a focus on real-time analysis and control of complex neural systems.
Bio: Alex Aupetit is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he studies how capillary networks sense and respond to metabolic changes. He completed his Ph.D. in vascular physiology and metabolism at the University of Toulouse, focusing on adipose tissue microvasculature and its role in obesity and aging. His work combines vascular biology, cellular imaging, and metabolic research to uncover how microvascular systems adapt to physiological cues.
Bio: Hassan Hosseini is a neuroscience researcher at the University of Michigan, where he studies noradrenergic modulation and synaptic function in neuropsychiatric disorders. With dual MSc degrees in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience, his work combines electrophysiology, optogenetics, and computational modeling to explore brain circuits and behavior. He has held research roles across Europe and the U.S., contributing to projects on Locus Coeruleus computation, synaptic imaging, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
